Professor Wickman received his medical degree at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm Sweden in 1976 and was appointed specialist in pediatrics in 1985. During the mid eighties he trained as pediatric allergist under professor Kjell Aas Oslo, Norway and returned back to Stockholm in 1989. In 1993 he defended his thesis on pediatric allergology and was appointed associate professor in 1999 and professor in 2003 at Karolinska Institutet. During the mid nineties he was head of the Department of Environmental Health at the County Council eighties. Professor Wickman now shares his time with clinical work at Sachs’ Children’s Hospital, University hospital Sodersjukhuset, Stockholm working with allergic children and research on pediatric allergology at Karolinska Institutet. Professor Wickman has been adviser for the Swedish government and has worked for WHO. Professor Wickman has published more that 100 papers in peer-reviewed literature.
