Adnan Custovic

Adnan Custovic is a Professor of Allergy and a Head of Respiratory Research Group at the School of Translational Medicine, University of Manchester.  His professional training consisted of a specialist training in Paediatrics and successive appointments as Clinical Research Fellow and Specialist Registrar in Allergy. This period saw him awarded M.Sc. (1991), M.D. with Gold Medal (1996) and Ph.D. (2000).

His academic work focuses principally on the gene and environment interactions in the development of allergic diseases and primary prevention of asthma.  Professor Custovic has authored or co-authored more than 100 articles in the major medical journals and contributed with chapters to a number of major textbooks.  He has given more than 100 invited lectures at the major national and international congresses.

At national level Professor Custovic serves as a Secretary of the BSACI (2009-2011). At an international level, he serves as a Chairman of the Asthma Section of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI). Professor Custovic is a member of the Executive Committees of ARIA and GARD.
