Glenis Scadding

SCADDINGGlenis Scadding is Consultant Physician in Allergy and Rhinology at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Clinical Immunology at the University College London School of Medicine. She is President of the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI) 2009-11, having been its Secretary 2007-9. In 2006, she won the BSACI William Frankland Award for outstanding contribution to clinical allergy in the UK.

Glenis was President of the Royal Society of Medicine’s Section of Clinical Immunology and Allergy from 2001 to 2003,.She has been a member of EAACI for several years and a member of the Academy’s ENT Section Committee since 2004, serving as the Section’s Secretary from 2005 to 2007 and as its President in 2007-9.

Dr Scadding’s research interests include rhinitis and its co-morbidities, including rhinosinusitis; aspirin hypersensitvity and sublingual immunotherapy. She is the author of over 160 peer- reviewed publications,plus many others including textbooks on Investigative Rhinology and Paediatric ENT and the handbook Fast Facts in Rhinitis with Wytske Fokkens. Glenis instigated the BSACI UK Rhinitis guidelines, with a fourth edition just published. Dr Scadding is also a member of the WHO’s Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma and Sublingual Immunotherapy committees, European Paediatric Rhinosinusitis and European Rhinosinusitis and Nasal Polyps ( EPOS) guidelines committees, and has written sections in each of these.
