Charles Brook
Professor Brook trained as a pediatric endocrinologist under Professor J M Tanner in London and Professor A Prader in Zurich. In 1974, he was appointed pediatric endocrinologist at The Middlesex Hospital, London and promoted to Professor of Pediatric Endocrinology at University College London in 1989, the first such post in the UK. In 1994, he established the London Centre for Pediatric Endocrinology at Great Ormond Street and University College London Hospitals which he directed until retirement in 2000. Professor Brook has written over 300 papers in the peer-reviewed literature and is the author and/or editor of 15 books on pediatric endocrinology. His textbook, Brook’s Clinical Pediatric Endocrinology first published in 1981 saw its 6th edition (Wiley-Blackwell) in 2009.
