Mike Thomas

Dr Mike Thomas is the Chief Medical Advisor for Asthma UK and has an academic post at Aberdeen University as the Asthma UK Senior Research Fellow. His clinical background is in General Practice and he remains a half-time GP. In his academic role he supervises a wide-ranging research programme centred on the primary care management of asthma and other respiratory conditions. His research interests include the diagnosis and treatment of asthma, the assessment of effectiveness of drug and non-drug treatments for asthma and the effects of co-morbidities on asthma outcomes. He sits on various UK and international asthma guidelines groups. He has published over 80 papers on respiratory topics in peer-reviewed journals.
