Imti Choonara

Imti Choonara is one of the leading paediatric clinical pharmacologists in the world. He has been personally involved in ensuring that paediatric clinical pharmacology is an accredited subspecialty of paediatrics in the UK. He is currently Secretary-General of the European Society for Developmental, Perinatal and Paediatric Pharmacology which is the leading international organisation of paediatric clinical pharmacologists. He was the Foundation Editor of Paediatric and Perinatal Drug Therapy which is now incorporated within the leading paediatric journal Archives of Disease in Childhood as a regular Drug Therapy section.
His research interests have been in drug toxicity, clinical trials and epidemiology of the use of medicines as well as in the management of pain and sedation in children. He is currently the Chair of the NIHR HTA Pharmaceutical Panel which is responsible for commissioning research of clinical trials of medicines in adults and children in the UK.
