Giorgio Tamburlini
Dr. Giorgio Tamburlini is a MD with post graduate training in Paediatrics, epidemiology and public health and a PhD in Child Health, Developmental Paediatrics and Perinatology. His current position is Research Director at the Institute of Child Health IRCCS Burlo Garofolo in Trieste. His research interests focus on epidemiology of childhood diseases and child health policies. He has been Principal Investigator for several national and international studies on child and adolescent health and child and adolescent health services, and has ser5ved as Italian member of EU projects on child health indicators. He led the WHO Collaborating Centre on maternal and child health at the Institute Burlo Garofolo from 1992, contributing to intercountry programmes (ARI/CDD, IMCI, Hospital care, Environmental health) and at country level in over 25 countries. He has also served as consultant to the World Bank (Children and Youth Unit from 2003 to 2004 and to a number of other international agencies. He has contributed as technical expert to the development of the CEHAPE and currently to the European Strategy for Child and Adolescent Health. He has served as member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian NIH (ISS), and member of the standing committee of the International Pediatric Association.
