Douglas S. Moodie
Dr. Douglas S. Moodie joined Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital, Section of Pediatric Cardiology as a Professor in 2010, named the Associate Director of the Texas Adult Congenital Heart Center, and Director of Faculty Development. The Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program will be an integral part of future growth in the Texas Medical Center. He also serves as Editor of the Congenital Heart Disease Journal.
Before coming to Baylor/TCH, Dr. Moodie was Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed his M.D. at Medical College of Wisconsin. While completing his Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic, he received a Master of Science Degree from the University of Minnesota. He was an Instructor and Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at the Mayo Clinic/University of Wisconsin. Dr. Moodie joined the Cleveland Clinic in 1978 as the first Pediatric Cardiologist and headed the Pediatric Cardiology Section. He became Vice Chairman of the Division of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic in 1985, and was named Chairman, Department of Pediatrics in 1987. Dr. Moodie was Associate Chief of Staff at Cleveland Clinic from 1989 to 1994, and became Chairman of the Division of Pediatrics in 1994, a post that he held until 2002. He also was Director of the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital during that time. Dr. Moodie is the Past President of the Northern Ohio Pediatrics Society, and was Chairman of the Section of Cardiology of the American Academy of Pediatrics 1994-1998. He is an honorary member of the Pediatric Department at the American University in Beirut and has been a Visiting Professor at all the major universities in the United States. He was the Editor of the Pediatric Cardiology National Newsletter, and received the Teacher of the Year Award at Cleveland Clinic in 1993. He was the recipient of the Nightingale Award for Physician/Nurse Collaboration and Excellence. He has published 260 papers, written 56 chapters, has 235 accepted abstracts nationally and internationally, and 56 posters presentations. He has spoken at all the major medical institutions in North American, Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East.
