Highlights

  • Excellence in Paediatrics was launched in 2009 in Florence, followed by London in 2010 and in 2011 it will be held in Istanbul, Turkey, on 30 November-3 December.
  • International Centres of Excellence such as the Harvard Medical School, Boston Children’s Hospital, University of Vienna, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, Karolinksa Institute and many more showcase their expertise each year in special scientific sessions.
  • The European Paediatric Association EPA/UNEPSA and The Child Health Field of the Cochrane Collaboration actively contribute to the development and delivery of a specialised thematic stream (nutrition in 2009, respiratory medicine in 2010, dermatology in 2011).
  • Each year, over 75 internationally renowned speakers from all over the world have been recruited to deliver cutting edge presentations.
  • The Book of Abstracts is published as a supplement to the journal Acta Paediatrica.
  • The 2010 edition drew approximately 1,000 delegates from 73 countries; the 2011 edition is anticipated to draw approximately 1,500 delegates from all over the world.
  • Excellence in Paediatrics will also cater for the practitioners from developing countries, with a number of bursaries granted, to enable a diverse range of practitioners to attend.
  • The Conference has been marketed with the support of over 30 journals and 95 paediatric associations from all over the world.
  • As of 2010, Excellence in Child Mental Health, a conference addressed to child psychiatrists, community paediatricians and allied child mental health professionals, is held in conjunction with Excellence in Paediatrics. Delegates from both meetings have the opportunity to benefit from selected shared sessions.
  • Excellence in Paediatrics 2010 dedicated the total income generated by the registration fees for the Conference workshops to support the mission of KEEP A CHILD ALIVE charity in the fight against AIDS.
  • Excellence in Paediatrics 2009 received the ‘’highly commended’’ distinction in the category for the Best New Conference Launch by Conference Awards 2010.
