Full Professor of Pediatrics at the Department of Pediatrics, University Federico II, Naples
Chief of the Unit of Pediatric Infectious Diseases of the Department of Pediatrics of the University of Naples
He has been President of the Italian Society of Pediatric Infectious Diseases in the years 2000-2003
Has been Editor in Chief of the European Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition in the years 2005-2009
Currently he is Council Member of the Italian Society for Pediatric Research
Has published more than 250 papers as principle investigator and contributed to Textbooks of Pediatrics including the Walker’s Pediatric Gastrointestinal Diseases and The Nelson’s Textbook of Pediatrics.
Prof Guarino’s main research interests include:
- Production and implementation of guidelines;
- Set up and evaluation of health care models in paediatrics;
- Intercation between intestinal microrganisms and the enterocyte;
- The effects by functional nutrition on intestinal and extraintestinal inflammation and their mechanisms.
