Alexandra Lee Haagensen
Dr. Alexandra L. Haagensen was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She graduated Harvard College with multiple awards and was Phi Beta Kappa. She attended Harvard Medical School and received the Dr. Bemi Jelin Award at graduation. Dr. Haagensen completed a residency in Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital Boston, where she received the Von L. Meyer Award. She did her fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at the combined Children’s Hospital Boston and Joslin Diabetes Center program and received the Farley Award. She did research on islet cell transplantation and pancreatic stem cells at the Joslin Diabetes Center and has been on staff at Children’s Hospital Boston since 2004. Dr. Haagensen has travelled to South Africa, Vietnam, Turkey, Kyrgystan and Brazil to do medical work. She has lectured at the International Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes in Scotland and at the Brazilian congress in pediatric endocrinology and metabolism in Recife, Brazil. Her current focus is general endocrinology and endocrine complications of Cystic Fibrosis.
